Why / Where is Mayfield?
Short Answer: There is already a Palo Alto Go Club, and they play in Menlo Park—go figure. And…Go players are notoriously territorial.

Long Answer: Our current playing location is in what was formally the township of Mayfield. Mayfield was known for its 13 Saloons and was annexed by Palo Alto in 1925. See Wikipedia’s history of Palo Alto for more information.
